Introducing Quasar 1.0 – our strongest model

Introducing Rimo

A free desktop app that downloads open AI models from Hugging Face and runs them on your own PC.

Rimo

Today we are releasing Rimo, a desktop app for running open AI models locally.

Hugging Face hosts thousands of open language models. Running one on your own computer usually means choosing between a dozen file versions and guessing whether it fits on your graphics card. Rimo takes care of that.

How it works

  • Search every Hugging Face repository with GGUF files, or paste a link to a model.
  • Pick a version: for each one Rimo shows size, quality and whether it runs fully on your GPU, and it recommends the best one for your PC.
  • Download with one click, with progress and remaining time.
  • Chat with the model, completely offline. Chats are saved locally, and reasoning models show their thought process.

Rimo uses Ollama to download and run the models. The app itself runs no server and sends your conversations nowhere.

Limits

Rimo covers models published as GGUF, which includes almost all well-known chat models. Models that only exist as raw weights, image and audio models, and very new architectures are not supported yet.

Rimo is free. Source code and build instructions are on GitHub.
